Christensen Experiences ‘Learning Curves’
During Kulwicki Driver Development Program’s Second Segment
CONCORD, North Carolina (August 28, 2025) – Seth Christensen spent the Kulwicki Driver Development Program’s second segment adapting and overcoming issues as he competed with two teams at six different race tracks in five states.
“I had learning curves through the entire segment,”
said Christensen, who won at Cordele (Ga.) Motor Speedway. Christensen, who occupies third in the Kulwicki Driver Development Program standings, says one of his lessons involved learning to prepare a car for a long run.
“Racing is a great tool for me to try chassis setups,” Christensen said. “This segment I learned about the differences between Hamke and Shotko chassis.” Christensen also learned how to use a shock dyno and read a shock dyno chart as he continued his education at Speed-U and in Lanier Technical College’s Motorsports Vehicle Technology program.
However, Christensen admitted he needed to work on qualifying as it’s not one of his strengths. When the zMAX CARS Tour held its annual throwback weekend at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway, Christensen elected Alan Kulwicki’s 1992 paint scheme. During the drivers autograph session, a man asked him to sign his cap commemorating Kulwicki’s 1992 NASCAR Cup championship. The fan told Christensen, his father was a “huge Kulwicki fan” and when he passed away he inherited the cap. Christensen said seeing the cap and being asked to sign it was “super cool.”
For his community service this segment, Christensen focused on the B.R.A.K.E.S program. It was founded by former NHRA Top Fuel racer Doug Herbert after his two young sons were killed in a car accident. The non-profit’s mission is to prevent injuries and save lives by training and educating teenage drivers and their parents about the importance of safe and responsible driving. B.R.A.K.E.S. is the acronym for Be Responsible And Keep Everyone Safe. He traveled to zMAX Dragway in Concord, N.C., to speak about driver safety and safety on the track. He also raised $500 of the $2,000 he has pledged for new banners for B.R.A.K.E.S.
This year, members of Kulwicki’s 1992 NASCAR Cup championship team are mentoring the five “Underbirds.” Christensen’s mentor is Cal Lawson. The drivers occupying first and second in the standings after the second segment will be announced Friday.
